madin voyage "con brio" 50' skookum trawler

we will be leaving olyimpia end of aug. heading to newport oregon. Con brio is a real nice older f g boat. It needs very little maint and all the systems are working well, we are looking forward to a very plesant trip.

we made it down to newport and we are at southbeach marina port of newport. the boat ran well it took about 48 hrs stright running with no stops. the average gps speed was about 9 nts, the weather in puget sound was excellent until we entered the strights of juan defucia, hard east wind and an incoming tide. got seasick the first time their. we rounded cape flattery about 0200and then out to sea about 20 miles the wind died down and the ocean smoothed out it was great sailing then. about daylight we were off the washington coastand heading south, full steam ahead. the weather was great and all systems "seamed" to be working well the radar and plotter gave us confidence to run at nite, what a change from the last time I was at sea.we powered on down the coast and into the night about midnite the auto-piolet decided to go on vaction and the rest of the trip was a little more tiring. at about daylight the second day we passed the clombia river outflow and we were off the oregon coast, what little fog we had lifted and the ocean got smoother it must have been the most beautiful day I have ever had on the ocean. We crossed the bar at newport about 4:00 in the afternoon and were tied to the dock by 5:00. what a great trip! I am not sure about our fule burn rate, when we tied up I could smell diesle looking in the engine room I found the bilge full of fule,,But that will be another story.
