Re: Best way to ship a mast?
I was told once by a racing friend that the only transportation system to ship a mast was a checkbook....

Re: Best way to ship a mast?
I would guess that mast is not for a Cal 20. Shipping masts up to 40', the length of a 40' container, isn't too expensive. Over that, both road and ship transport gets a bit ridiculous. If you have a longer mast for road shipment, piggy backing on a boat transport is the cheapest way to go. The problem is finding a boat being shipped in the vicinity of the mast or vice versa. The container length I assume is the reason that most mast extrusions are 40' long with a splice for longer lengths.

It is. As Scott Berg said, it's all about the checkbook.
