Cold Weather AGM Battery Question

Our boat is stored on hard in northern New England with batteries connected to 140 watt solar Panel. Is this prudent or should batteries be removed & stored indoors during winter. Thank's

Re: Cold Weather AGM Battery Question

Assuming your solar panels are connected to a good controller, the setup is probably OK.

However, because AGM batteries have a very low self-discharge rate -- even more so in cold weather -- and if they're fully charged to begin with, they'd probably be fine just sitting in the boat disconnected.
