Raymarine e7d screen recall and lighthouse 2 upgrade
I bought an e7d for the boat last year and after a few months the touch screen was totally unusable at first startup, I would have to go through the extensive calibration to fix it. I found out about the recall so i sent my unit in and got one back promptly but with a screw rattling around inside. Raymarine was good to pay the shipping to fix it. Just fired it up on the boat and they loaded lighthouse 2 on it. So far the major differences are there nicer data screens and it appears to calculate true wind with GPS speed which isn't as accurate as a paddle wheel I'm sure but probably pretty close most of the time.

Thats great that now true wind is off GPS. I installed a new airmar 744v triducer before I left cruising, and it has never been even remotely accurate. I'll have to update soon.

Has anybody updated their gpx or p70? Do you have to call raymarine to get the software?

Sending mine back now.
Wouldn't the true wind derivation be more accurate using gps rather than paddle wheel speed? |

But you need to select the proper upgrade archive according the the kind of MFD on your vessel. It is very easy if you follow the instructions. The only Hiccup I encountered was downloading the software for the I70 devices using V7 archive on a MacOSX system. They incorrectly set up that archive and it tries to overwrite itself when unpacking. You need to dearchive with the mac on file at a time when doing the V7 upgrade for the I70. I encountered no problems with the P70. |
