Fishing boats up here only have one anchor......a forfjord with a hydralic windless with all chain.....pound for pound it is not possible to make a comparison.......you might end up with a newgen anchor too big to fit on the foredeck

I have 4 anchors (22lb Bruce, 45lb Forfjord, 15lb Northhill kedgeing anchor and a 30lb predecessor to the Danforth) on board three are quite popular all with a solid history and none of thes are mentioned in the poll. This thread strikes me as being heavily biased towards ultra light anchors. When figuring in the pound for pound ratio the wieght of chain is not figured in. All of the figures for holding power of ultra light anchors are based on ideal conditions with the purpose being to sell an anchor. Where I live there are several sailing schooners over 70 feet that sail all over the world, they carry a Forfjord and a Bruce. If anyone is doing any serious cruising they will probably have a windlass and a healthy amount of chain both of which negates the only advantage of an ultra light anchor if you are looking for an easier ancor to handle. If you want more holding power/lb of anchor deck space at a premium.
