advice for a hopeful crewer?
Hi. Does anyone have advice for how i can improve my chances getting on a boat from Darwin to Asia? I got this far from nz by using 7knots and talking to people at marinas. Apparently Darwin is quite hard to get out of due to the large number of tourists looking to crew.
Ive placed an ad in the appropriate cruisersforum and on 7knots and findacrew. Is there some other base i haven't covered? Cheers Tom |
Re: advice for a hopeful crewer?
Look for boats heading North from Cairns and ask if they are going further.
Search the forums on this website for boats who are heading to Indonesia and contact them. Talk to yachties in Darwin, put up notices etc. You could put a listing in The Coastal Passage. Contact the organisers of the rallies to see if they will introduce you to boats. |

Biggest way to up your chances is being willing to put hand in pocket to meet "expenses".

Thanks for those suggestions. I've tried some but not all of those things.
