If you have any specific questions about Good News, let me know. The owner is a friend of mine and I can ask him questions for you.

I also notice that Perry has viewed your profile and if you look again Perry, no I'm not trying to cut you out of a deal just if texasliam is interested in finding out more, I'll help out.

Don't know, but I will find out. I thought Jim Simpson boat was at Clear Lake Marine. Also, Looked at the S2, kinda worth checking out IMHO. Taller rig than I thought, may sail pretty good.

    Liam,
She was hauled out for a spell after IKE, but I have no idea if that was related to damage. Rumor has it she can go for a cheaper price but she is a real fixer upper. In fact, I have never met a more perfect example of a vessel in dire need of a complete restoration. If she were mine I'd gut her including some bulkheads and floor stringers. her cabin sole is newish but with the construction needed it is of little consequence. The deck has many signs of rot and stress (as you pointed out). *Remember the rot rule, if you think it is the size of a lemon, then in reality, it is probably the size of a football. IF you are looking for a big project, say five years of part time at a 40 thousand min- who am I kidding - say 60 thousand once everything is said and done. Well you'd have one fine vessel that could take you anywhere you wanted to go.

If ya love to work on boats then get a fixer upper, if you want to sail then get a boat that is ready to go. If I had to do it over again I would of bought a completely restored CD30, I'd be sailing right now!! but don't tell OG I said that, she'd never forgive me, and hard work is good for the soul..at least that is what they say
I will go check her (Good News) out again. Have you seen Jim Simpson's boat that he is selling? It is over at clear lake marine, I think it is a Cheoy Lee. I heard she was restored and if Jim did it it is top notch work. Also, the S2 (30ft cc) over by Good news, I heard the owner will take 12 for her. I think she is rough and I haven't been below so don't know how good of a deal it is but maybe worth a check. The S2 cc is mainly a liveaboard boat lots of windage, so not the best sailor.

    P.S.
How about this wind! I think it is gusting in the 40s and it is out of the west, I will have to check NOAA and see what they are saying.
