    Hi Tellie,
Thanks for your message and your wonderful compliments too. I hope your daughter enjoys the book! Honestly, I could spend all day every day reading / posting on the forum—it's a great community of people. But I'm having a hard time managing my book promotions with my leisure time at the moment! All the best.

Hi Tellie. I was referred to you by GordMay. We have a Spectra 1000 that is about a year old. We were in the boat yard last week and I turned off the water maker. We are now back in the water and yesterday I turned the unit back on and restarted the auto flush. I than went outside to see if there was water coming out and it was not. I than opened the seawater intake seacock and the fresh water went out there. Somebody told me it goes out there for a few seconds than goes out the side. But the water just kept going out the seawater intake. I opened the relief valve and there was a whistling sound and the water went out the side where it normally goes. I have never had to do this before. Thanks for any help you can give me. I have posted this question on the forum under Water maker problem.

Hi Tellie, I am in the market for a new watermaker and have started a thread “Help me choose a new R/O” to clarify my situation and options for an upgrade.

You have given great advice in past threads, hope you can help me to better define what suits best…especially in the Spectra line….Cheers pelagic

    Heya Tellie,

I just scored at 7GPH, Spectra, with everything including a Procon SS feed-pump (apparently the procon feed-pumps can be a bit unreliable) from a marine engineer who is real short of cash. Price paid??? NZ$2,000.

Hell's teeth. When I visited the Spectra agent her in Auckland I was told they want NZ$1500 just for the RO membrane!

The unit runs on 230VAC, so I'll have to get an inverter, but I want one anyway to run power tools.

Also, today, picked up a two-burner. Origo denatured alcohol stove. This thing is reputed to run for 6 hrs, flat out, per burner, on one litre of fuel. I'm running a test as I write this, to see how this unit compares with my home electric stove to cook a pressure-cooker full of stew.

For convenience of space my intention is to gimbal the stove using a counter-weight as opposed to having the axle-point above the stove, as in hanging gimbals. What do think of that idea?

    Cheers
    david.

    Hi Telie,

Thank you so much for the offer to help. My direct is dpex at xtra.co.nz, where the 'at' is actually the normal icon. But for some reason this site denies permission to use that icon.

    And my name is David.

My plan is to follow, very closely, the Leo Litchfield design.

    Cheers
    David.

    Tellie,

Many thanks. The website only holds a fraction of the 4-5,000 images that's I've programmed to date. Some of the things that I do for the sailboat side of my interests are dock signs that will wrap arond a pile so that you can untie it and take it to the new anchorage announcing the boat type (profile), name and owners name and home ports. I do wall hangings and all sorts of things. I don't carry much on the webiste as I like each items to be a one off original at production prices. When I'm not busy with my own stuff I do machine programming for 3 small shops that can't afford a second programmer or sometimes need overflow work done.

Oh-oh! Now that you're affiliated with Spectra, you'll have to be really careful with postings - or just tell 'em you're now a "commercial" entity... ;-)

    How's business?
