    Hi Tellie.

Are you running a boatshow sale on cape horn watermakers this week? I see there's a show in Lauderdale right now.

We spoke at the Miami show last year, I'm sure you remember me.

    Cheers.
    Paul.

Please Tellie, can you tell me if it is possible to have drip leak between the composite cylinder and the base on a Clark pump. I have replaced the pipes and fittings directly below this joint and redone this many times to still get a small drip with each piston stroke with pressure. If the pressure relief valve is open there is no drip. This joint seems to be permanently sealed and obvious way to get it apart. Thanks for your time and expertise.

Hi Tellie, do you ever get your hands on a used or reconditioned Spectra or Katadyn 12 volt model? I have a smallish boat (28' Morgan Out Island) so limited space and even more limited budget. I know these items can get very pricey new. Thanks for any info on this. Christa

Hi Tellie, I posted a problem in the plumbing forum for all to see but I really think you're probably the only one who can help me.

    Hi Tellie
I read one of you posts where you said you had an inexpensive solution to implement the functions of an autoflush for a watermaker. Could you tell me what it is and how it works?

    Thanks

    Tellie,
I've got a scenario I'd like you to comment on if you have the time.

I started cruising last fall and have worked my way down to Puerto Vallarta. My refurbished Gulfstream 400 is running flawlessly.

The water here is dirty so I don't want to make water from the sea.

I've devised a dock setup that I'd like your opinion on... just to make sure I'm not hurting my system.

I'm bringing dock water into my system via the service panel. Dock pressure is about 40psi.

As soon as I turn on the dock water I can hear the pistons start to shift. I then turn on both pumps. The pumps are operating at 50psi-60psi.

    Production 21gpm
    Water temp 80-85°
    Total PPM 5

I think this set up is ok. The only reason I'm concerned is that when the Clark Pump shifts, it's making a much more noticeable click on each side.

Do you have any insight or thoughts about my setup?

    Thanks!

    Tellie,

I purchased food grade Poly Glycol (1 gal.) while in NZ. It was pretty expensive so I am guessing it is 100%. Can I use this to pickle my spectra water maker and if so how much do I use?? I am also in NC so I am afraid of freezing temp. I am assuming it will not freeze. Bob

    Good morning Tellie,
Newhaul suggested that I talk to you. Do you know anything about the spool valve on a Powersurvivor 35? When the cleaning head is on water seems to circulates ok. When the regular head is on it builds up enough pressure to stop the pump. water comes in a steady stream from the tank discharge until the pressure dissipates. NO water exits as brine discharge. Doesn't this point to the spool valve? Katadyne won't even let me talk to a tech since it is discontinued.

    Morning Tellie,

It was suggested I said 'hello'.

I asked a thorny question about Spectra - definitely one that would disqualify me from the warranty!

It is partly an Engineer's curiosity that drives me to ask - trying to see if I understand the system right.

    Cheers, Andy
