    Biography
Hi, I was born on a little island on the great lakes called Mackinac, cars are not allowed there so I grew up in the saddle, it's a big horse culture as well as sailing. I moved to the blue ridge mountains of Virginia as a young man and have been traveling by land and sea every winter since I graduated high school. I open a hostel and kite surf school off the coast of north carolina a couple of years ago and while it has been extremly successful and loads of fun I am again feeling the traveling bug. With around 6000 nm sailing the Caribbean from a Cal 35 delivery teaching a new boat owner how to sail, provision, navigate, plan passages, forecast and read weather- to crewing on a 90' gaff rigged schooner I have faced many trials at sea from fixing holes in the hull while under way on a blue water passage to trouble shooting and repairing many different types of electrical and mechanical malfunctions! Tired of the antillies looking for some travels around south america, south east asia or ideally to circumnavigate! People describe me as laid back and easy going- although I enjoy working and problem solving. I have references from previous Captains and clients although I do not have a 6 pak I am considering spending the $1000 and taking the test although I did this for my p.a.s.a. Kite surf instructor certification and feel like it was money poorly spent as everything I have worked for was gotten with a good attitude and creative thinking and work, the piece of paper doesn't compare with experience- so I am looking for more experiences! Although I do have some papers C.p.r., First aid and boat safe certified, as well as a valid passport and love of travel- a very functional level of spanish and a passion for cooking. Hoping to crew with you! Keith Croghan at gmail
