    I had the same problem on one of my boats...the pump was under my berth! Not much you can do to quiet it except maybe insulate that compartment. If it's noise when the toilet is used in the middle of the night that bothers you most, that CAN be eliminated: Install a what's called a "night switch" in the head that turns ONLY the pump on and off. The pump only runs to restore vacuum AFTER a flush, so there's one flush still available...the pump just doesn't come on. The toilet can still be used without vacuum if necessary...flush water will still run. Just be sure to flush at least half a bowlful of clean water when you turn the toilet pump on again in the morning.
