Spent 5 days in Puerto Amistad in Bahía de Caráquez before moving on to Puerto Lucía Yacht Club in La Libertad where the boat stayed for 5 months with us on & us as we landed toured Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Amazon & Galapagos. Not true marina in Amistad but do have moorings or can anchor. Safe while on boat but numbers of boats robbed when left on moorings despite be watched over by marina staff. Puerto Lucia is not a marina but rather a private yacht club that sometimes has room for transients. Rates are reasonable if you stay over a month. Marineros will help tie you to the moorings, stern to the floating dock. Surge can be a problem with swell with anything degree of north of west. Arnold runs a charter Formosa sailboat out of there. He is married to an Ecuadorian & knows where & how to get things done including buying cheap, heavy, polyproline lines from fishing supplier as need lots of length. There is marina in nearby Salinas but does not take transients..
