    please forgive my late response...I just got to the user cp page that showed me your question on the harken roller furling 2 weeks ago or so...sorry...doh...
    you've probably figured drum line out by now?...watch the youtube video....re: harken roller furling unit 1, its very old but good!!! a must watch....if you have the 30+ yr old unit like mine..watch the youtube, unscrew the long sleeve above drum, get to the inner 5" long ss lug that screws up and down , with wrenches...that's your prob I think....hope I helped a bit...Jeff in Tampa Bay..on 36' west indies
