    Biography
    My "boating carreer" started years ago with a Wiking Komet inflatable that I got from my father. After using that fo a few years with motors from 4 to 25 HP, I upgraded to my current vessel that uses a 75 HP Evinrude E-TEC.

    Currently, my preferred boating regions are the rivers of Main and Neckar in southern Germany, the lakes in northern Italy, and the Mediterranean.

    Just recently, I have moved my electronic charting from an HTC X7500 Pocket PC (Windows Mobile 5) to a "real" computer, a FijitsuSiemens P1610 (Windows XP Tablet Ed.). Main reason for the move was the need for a transflective (sunlight readable) display and the availability of OpenCPN, which can use Inland-ENC vector charts. These are freely avalailable for many rivers in Europe.
