dive shops perform...as I used to run a large dive ops on Bonaire...and know just how hard it is to make it all work, all the time. Very hard. I had my wife ask our DM all the great questions we get from morons. Like " How do these birds ( pointing at flying fish) hold their breath for so long? Can we dive under that island and meet the boat on the other side? Will you spit in my mask for me? We had him going for a bit.... lol. Me laughing from the bridge probably tipped him off. He was a cool guy.

My ex who has spent the last 5+ yrs on St John is Nancy Carrieri...a blonde, very social, quite a looker, has a black lab. Used to have a crazy dalmation called Brogan. Our dog on Bonaire. We loved that dog. Anyhow...yes Ambergris looked to have an interesting mix of folks on it. We dived the Blue Hole with a shop ....can't remember the name...had a 60ft boat...did a professional job. I love to observe how various d

Yes, Central America seems popular. had a 2 week vacation in belize last yr. Liked it. Diving was pretty interesting & varied. But vacations give a false sense of a place. It'd be nice to have work 3-4 days a week...like filling in for vacations/sick days.....teaching scuba, working on boats, too old to do bartending here. 10pm rolls round...I'm off to bed!

I have an ex who lives on St John in the winter...rents a house, works in a bar & a real estate office. She like it. Also says it's expensive...but that the wages/tips she gets balances it out. Now she's spending time in SC...she's amazed at how low wages are there. I also wonder how normal folks get by on what many earn here. $12/hr gross doesn't go very far. oh well. Was in Scotland a month ago. mama not well, need to go back in Sept

exps. I view it as catastrophic coverage. Scotland? I visit once/twice per year...visiting elderly Mama. Otherwise, a bulldozer couldn't drag me back. Cannot understand the young folks staying there. Oh well.
Yes...that time thing. The last 10 yrs have dissapeared in a blink. In the mortgage biz...making money...but losing time. I think about it every day. One "test result" away from disaster....one "small proceedure" away from losing the ability to sail off into the blue. Ah, health. When we have it...it's under appreciated. When it's gone...no amount of $$$ will compensate.
Your RV plan sounds excellent. I love my dual center idea. Seems so simple and so obvious.

I'm 6ft 6"...so it kinda limits my choices unless I can live in a permanent crouch stance! mainecat 41 or lagoon 440 are at the top of the list. Where in tropics? I used to live in Phuket...25 yrs ago....and loved it. So maybe SE Asia. Not so keen on high priced Caribbean. But the proximity to the USA is attractive. USA is on it's way to a low price destination, imho. health insurance asside, of course. I'm on a high deductible HSA plan. Love it. i pay $120 a month. Covers me for 100% of everything after $5k/yr

Ha ha! I'm a 55 yr old ex-pat Scot...living in Raleigh, NC...been here 10 (boring) yrs...before that, 10 yrs on Bonaire running a dive shop ( not at all boring) and before that 3 yrs travelling around the world. Lust after a dual center lifestyle...some time each yr in tropics on a boat....some time each yr on land in the "real world". Learned, after years on Bonaire...that too much of one thing gets to you...no matter how cool that thing is to begin with. So, to answer your questions. No, I don't get out on a boat, which really bothers me. No, no plans to be a woman...even though my countrymen and myself at times...do wear skirts. My dreams are to eventually get my 40ft cat and explore tropical islands above & below.

I am in Annapolis, MD tied to a dock in a marina :-( prepping for my next sailaway which will bring me back through the island to the Pacific this time. Feel free to PM me or chat with me at SSSSM FB.

I would, however, like to be.... :-)
Either way...I still think you rock!
