- Being on the water; puttering around; my cat; peace and quiet; jigsaw puzzles; sports; history; music; chess; and, above all, laughing.
- Grew up in Neil's Harbour, Cape Breton and was lucky enough to learn all about boats, fishing, and navigation, long before electronics - even before CB radios. Still go crab and lobster fishing at the busiest times to help out and to fill my freezer. Jig a few cod, haddock, and mackerel during the summer. I joined the army in my early 20s and spent 23 years doing that. Posted all over the place, including 5 years in Germany. Did some tours and saw plenty. Left the military and did another 9 years in Border Services but didn't enjoy being a civilian public servant very much. Retired for good in 2018 and moved to Moncton (where my wife is from). Home is close to all amenities and it's only 25 minutes to the marina in Shediac. Post-retirement I spent about 8 months deciding on a boat and started the current process in winter 2019. Moving forward, I plan on plying the coastal maritime waters all summer long, with one or two long trips (1 or 2 weeks) per season, once I find my comfort zone with the new boat (i.e. next year).
