- Biography
- I'm 48 years old and live in St. Petersburg, FL. For the past three years I have been the managing partner in a boat repair business (mechanical and electrical) and have lived aboard. I am easy going, hardworking, and an excellent cook (or so I'm told). I enjoy entertaining and hosting. I love being on the water. I now at a time in my life when I can focus on my own ambitions. I am most interested in crewing, particularly on sailing vessels, though this is not a requirement. I am an avid reader and am always able to entertain myself. I am an amateur photographer with a special interest in nature photography and candid portraiture.
I have a Bachelor's degree from the University of South Florida in WS w/a minor in creative writing and 1 year of graduate school at USF in the acclaimed Poynter Institute sponsored M.A. in Journalism on the USF, St. Petersburg campus. I would welcome to opportunity to write and journal about adventures at sea.
As I previously stated I have lived aboard for the last 3 years and do not get sea sick, though my live aboard experience was on a 32' cabin cruiser (at least I'm not afraid of tight quarters). My sailing experience is minimal, but I am teachable and able to work long hours. I have an adventurous spirit. I am currently brushing up on my Spanish and French as well as awaiting the arrival of my passport.
Additionally, I am an avid horsewoman. I ride hunter/jumper (English) and have taught horse back riding and led trails in Pinellas Park, Fl for 20+ years. My daughter is an honors student at Florida State and I made a decision to put both our horses, one of which was my schooling mare, out to pasture so that I could pursue other long standing personal interests. I have also taught in the public school system in Pinellas County for two school years, first as a substitute teacher and later as a Title 1 remedial reading teacher and Sea Team Leader for the Title 1 Team at my elementary school.
