(You need to get a "wide load" permit in every state-- as far as I found out.)
    Hope this helps.

Enormous strain on the turning block. It is just TOO heavy. It works well when I pull down on the halyard and my wife takes up the slack from the cockpit.
It works well when I pull down on the halyard and my wife takes up the slack with the winch from the cockpit. The MAIN thing that does not work from lines led to the cockpit, is the Jiffy Reefing. There is SO MUCH friction due to all the 90 and 180 degree turns that it just DOESNT WORK. I'm going to change it over to a simplified system of "cheek" blocks and cleats on the boom. (The reefing will be done from the base of the mast with the autohelm (or my wife) steering.)
I realize I've been going on too long, so pardon me. As to the last thing, yes it is trailerable. We had an aluminum trailer made, since we found out the hard way what the salt water and spray does to galvanized steel. We towed it with a U-haul truck from Tampa down to a boatyard near LaBelle, Florida.

    Hey Duane,
Sorry it has taken me a while to get back to you. My wife and I are on a "walkabout" for 2 months touring the Northeast. Our boat is "on the hard" in Florida, but we'll be back on it in January for 3 months. We "anchor out" most of the time, so we have a pretty good idea of how the boat operates away from marinas. We move up and down the East and West coasts of Florida and I can tell you that it sails and motors well. It has a good Westerbeke 18 hp diesel and well balanced sail plan. The interior was the thing I liked best about the Compac 27's. In the 15 years I compared boats, the interior, "stiffness", shallow draft and solid build were its main selling points. Also, it "looks" like a sailboat should look.
We both love the "head" being at the base of the steps and the bulkhead table.
No, I did not end up with all the lines led to the cockpit. There is NO way the mainsail can be raised from the cockpit by one person without putting an
