I saw your post that you are looking for a crew member sailing the andamen sea. I was wondering if I could get more information on the trip. I would be avaiable probaley from the beginning of may onwards. I am an surfer and traveled through indonesia last year for 4 months and always wanted to get up there

Hi there,
I have spent a few weeks cruising on an Adams 40. But my wifes parents have been long-term live-aboard cruisers on theirs for almost 20 years. They have made numerous crossings of the Bass Strait, sailed to the Marquesa Islands, etc.

Also, there are a significant number of Adams 40s in the long-term criser fleet. Joe Adams is a very well respected designer.

One cautionary word, though... these were never a production boat, being a very popular choice for the amateur / home builder. So regardless of the merits of the design, the build quality can vary. My father in law was a boildermaker-welder and very concientious builder, the steelwork on their boat is still excellent after 20 years. It will be worth taking your time with survey and poking your head into every single hole / locker / bilge compartment that you can find.
