Hi Charlie, I came across your name while searching for Gladiateur info. Do you still own yours? I bought one six months ago and am planning to start a few projects and am looking for advice. Mainly wondering if any other owners have installed a windlass.

Hi Charlie. We just finished doing a bottom job. I've got a few more projects to do before we leave. At this point, probably going to stay here in Texas for hurricane season. Too late for the Bahamas, and not keen on hanging around Florida during that time either. We'll head off again in October most likely. I can't wait to get going again.

Sorry to hear you won't be sailing the Med this summer. That's too bad. Say hi to Ken and Pamela if you see them. Take care of yourself!

    Hey Charlie,
I just bought one of the Simrad BR24s. I haven't had a chance to set it up since I'm kind of handicapped right now. I whacked my arm with a circular saw and had to have surgery to repair tendons and nerves. I'll give you a call as soon as I remember where I put the number.
    Hasta,
    Dave

Hi Charlie - I read a post where you mentioned your knowledge of "on the hard" in Italy... any advice? I am hoping to leave my 43' sailboat on Italy's west coast from Sept 2012 until mid 2013... thanks, Mick Pitt

    Hi Charlie,
I didn't know there were sailors in Nevada City. I have property in the Bear Valley. Just wanted to say hello neighbor. Your advise to the newbie is good. I also consider myself a newbie, own a catalina 25 for practice and will seek cruising opportunity. I am looking to sail the BAJA HAHA, 2011 I hope.

    Hi Charlie,

I am interested in the Flux-gate compass, of course if it is good. You can check most of it out by checking the Ohm readings on the male pins. To trouble shoot you can go to Alpha Marine Systems Compass Sensor Test Procedure. Or we can come up with another mutual agreement for me to receive it and test it or try it out.
{ pins 1-2 =30 Ohms, pins 3-6=100 Ohms, pins 5-8=100 Ohms } The readings should fall within 10%

    Thanks Again

Hi Charlie. overloading engines can cause engine damage. as you have said the fuel consumption went up and the engine temp would also go up, it puts extra load on the motor and your engine will break down quicker, I do hundreds of propeller repitching to get the correct load on the engine for max engine life. hope this helps. Hi Charlie,
Did you ever find a manual for your 4JH4E?
If so, where- I need a shop and parts manual as well.
    Thanks

Hi Charlie - can you give any advice to a newly arrived, beginner level Brit who's love to do some crewing? I'm currently based in Puerto Vallarta, though planning on moving a bit north to somewhere more quiet but still in reach of the Marina. All ideas very welcome.
