  1. CARDOSO
    Good morning "boatman61"
My name is Carlos. I own a 2015 Leopard39 which I am considering doing a Atlantic crossing from Newport RI to Acores / Southern Portugal around May / June 2023. I would like chat/discuss your availability and the possibilities to work together. I plan to be part of the crew. I've done numerous Atlantic crossing but not on a sail boat. Looking forward to hear from you. cell: 1 401 829 2108. Best regards, Carlos

turned out great, thank you (even though the crossing didn't happen in the end. mega bummer!). and your recipe is definitely worth it. excellent! once i re-learn to enjoy cooking, i will..., thing is, am just not there yet, liking cooking. STILL feels like a chore. the other day, i burned chickpeas.... now, who does that? seriously, i MUST find a way to enjoy cooking again... would rather change the oil filters! miss your cheese-n-onion on toast good sailor, that's for sure!
  3. wolfgal
hey, I made it (without the tomatoes) and it was great!
still haven't got my recipes in one place, written down. I SO put off anything cooking. geez, I must FACE MY FEARS! funny for a woman who cooked for a family of four for a couple of decades, huh?
I'll never forget how those onion/cheese toasts tasted though: heavenly! such good memories. I loved crewing for you!!!!
  4. wolfgal
thank you for everything, all these years!
will keep you posted as to The Crossing!
and how I wish i had a photo of us singing, Oh Black Betty, bam-ba-dam!!!!
  5. wolfgal
holy cow... grief to think that "ready to go" used to mean something.
ok, only have a minute of internet left but want you to know that i'm headed south, leaving the day after tomorrow, found a solution. like a BRAVE soul girl (like i used to be so long ago), i'm getting back out there! fingers crossed all will work out well. i think i'll be good. feel more confident now. sending you a big hug and a kiss, good man! you are such a good friend.
  6. wolfgal
hey good man! just saw this!!!

not much sailing in the end, just boat works, still not done and the captain is not happy, saying he's decided to sell the boat! he might haul tail it back to the states any day now. i scouted for crewing but am feeling like mush... might fly back over. do you have a delivery on the near horizon? if so, send me a pm, so i get an email. i'm free until end june

oh and for mal de mer, i found something that works!!!!
  7. wolfgal
YO DUDE! i had a blast! such a blast. inspire of everything that went wrong. but you know me, i just smile away! got along well with the folk too! and hey, i didn't get seasick at all, just queasy ONCE! i got my sealegs and been walking the drunk ever since - don't want to lose them! yes, really am happy. may go back next month, meet up farther south with the group. might blow more on tickets... (grief, expensive!). but i know i should! life starts with every new day!

hope all is going well for your delivery. you should be out there by now. will be doing carpentry work/teak work in port napoleon for a couple weeks (on the vagabond) if ever you swing by. sending you onion toast and a big tall hug!
  8. Rver
I thought I knew how to send a PM but it looks like I've lost it.....and perhaps the plot...
Do you have the room and any thought on a paying crew member for your transit to Greece?

    Best wishes

    Thank you Boatman.
I actually have sent an email to her. I have followed closely what she has said prior to buying my boat. She was a positive influence in the decision. That was when there was 2 of us going to be sailing her. Now I need to be able to do everything solo... At the moment I have no autopilot and I hoped she could tell me if its doable on this boat without one in a pinch, and what tips can she give me. Also for tacking her. She has a tendency to go into irons on the tack and doesn't easily go through. I have been thinking I can use the mizzen to assist with this, and furl the genoa fully before the tack. Self tailers would help too. Just need more time sailing her. 1600 km separation at the moment doesn't help.

Good day Boatman61. I was referred to you via this site from Pete7 who suggested I contact you.

    Summary:
-I have been chartering Catamarans over the last 10 years in the Eastern Caribbean. I am now ready to purchase and have decided on a Fountaine Pajot Lucia 40. I have made offers on 2 separate yachts but have been unsuccessful at this time. I found a 2017 Lucia in France that ticks off all the boxes.
In your opinion, how feasible would it be to purchase in France , hire a Captain to join myself and another crew to bring it across to the Caribbean?
I don’t have the knowledge or experience to cross on my own, I also doubt I would be able to obtain insurance either.
    Thanks for your time.
    Robert
