    Saw your post about brokers, where you detail why a broker charges 10%, with 50 hours or more being spent.

    My issue is different. I found a nice boat, about $29K, from a private seller. We are agreed and the price is subject to survey & sea trial. Boat is in Maine. My question:

    I can handle this sale myself - have a good, fairly standard as-is boat contract - but I (and the seller too) would be more comfortable if I engaged a broker simply to act as an escrow agent, and handle the paperwork, and transfer of funds/title. Easy peasy.

    My question: what is a fair price for just that service, and would I be better off using a Florida broker (I'm in Ft. Myers) or one in Maine (boat's location).
