- UPDATE 2017: Please don't take the Dumb and Dumber approach of "so you're saying I have a chance...." just because I'm female and we'll be in close quarters. I AM NOT DTF, NOT INTO QUID PRO QUO to get or stay aboard a boat. Please don't be "that guy" looking to trade favors for sailing.
Sailing gigs could either be on the Delivery scenario or more of a Leisurely Cruisin' kind of thing - or anywhere in between. I may like looking like a girly-girl but have no problem getting dirty and working my ass off. I expect the capt to pay for all on-board expenses and those able to cover transportation to/from the boat will be prioritized.
My schedule is very flexible and can accommodate just about any situation if all the other factors line up. I also plan to vlog my experiences and share these adventures with others so I'd love to be around people who could get into that concept as well.
I'm quite a capable cook/stew (would actually prefer to be allowed to take the lead on provisioning) so no fear of the "ramen noodle and PBJ sandwich" monotony. Chowders, curries and cassaroles are just a start...;-) I have a US Passport, clean US domestic and International driver's license, am a non-smoker/social drinker, no criminal background. I'm a quick study with a sincere desire to travel and immerse myself in the sailing world!
Professionally - On sabbatical from teaching yoga, Reiki and Yoga Nidra (meditation). Prior to that, a Regional Developer/Franchise Owner for fitness studios in 2 states and the owner/operator for administrative services consulting business.
Sailing experience: February: ASA 101/103/104/114 (avg 96% test and 100% practical assessment scores, 110nm) while living aboard a 40' Lagoon.
April - 10 days. 46' Moody coastal delivery, anchoring overnight. St Pete to Marathon Key. Crew, helm, cook, docking/mooring ball/anchor. 250nm Longest sailing day was 17hrs and 110nm.
May - 7 days. 45' Jeanneau. Island hopping Puerto Rico and Spanish Virgin Islands. 105nm Crew, helm, cook, docking/anchor.
May-June. 27 days aboard, 20 days sailing (4hr rotation among 3ppl). 50' Soubise catamaran. Delivery from Honolulu, HI to Everret, WA. 2700nm Crew, helm, 80hrs solo night watch, "mast monkey" (was told to include that as being up a 60' mast in open seas checking for damage after blowing out sail doesn't freak me), provision lead (menu planning, shopping, stowing) and cook, docking.
Letters of Recommendation from last two Capt's were cheerfully offered to any prospective Capts. The first captain, well, there's a reason the first part of my profile reads as it does...
