Biography

I have been sailing since 1965. I have been a cruiser, charter captain, charter base manager, delivery skipper. I have about 50,000nm offshore miles. I am experienced in both mono and multihull vessels.
I have my Royal Yachting Association RYA/MCA Offshore Yacht Master certificate (since 1996) with commercial endorsement and my RYA/MCA Ocean Yacht Master theory ticket. I have a UK VHF radio operator’s license. My resume has been approved by Lloyds of London for delivery captain insurance purposes.

I started sailing in 1965 in dinghies on The Bristol Channel, Cardiff, UK
1970 Crew: 27ft sloop, UK to Brittany, France, across Biscay to La Coruna,Spain.
1973 Sailed Atlantic as mate/navigator (Celestial only) 72 ft ketch from Gibraltar to Barbados, W. I.
1973 Sailed 80ft inter island trading schooner from Barbados to Antigua.
1974 Mate aboard 72ft charter ketch (Stormvogel) sailed the Windward and Leeward Islands and across the Atlantic to Athens, Greece
1979 Captained 50ft Gulfstar sailboat, based Rodney Bay St. Lucia, term chartering for 2 seasons.
1979 Delivered many sailboats from St Lucia to Grenada.
1980 Delivered 19m Jongert steel ketch from Miami to St Vincent, West Indies
1982 Sailed my own 37ft mono hull from England to Spain, Portugal, Madeira ,Canary Islands and Grenada, W I and then up to BVI with my young family aboard.
1983 Freelance charter yacht captain based in Road Town, Tortola, BVI
1983 Delivered 47ft Jeannau sloop from Tortola to Bermuda
1983 Delivered Francis 26ft sailboat from Tortola to Beaufort, SC. USA
1983 Delivered Sky 54 ft.sloop from Sandford, Connecticut, USA via Bermuda to Tortola, BVI.
1983 Sailed my own 37ft sloop from Tortola BVI to England via Bermuda and the Azores
1992 Sailed west coast of Scotland on 85ft 1890’s Brixham sailing trawler
1993 Delivered Beneteau(32ft) from east coast of England to Plymouth, England
1995 Raced (2 handed) 28ft sloop from England to the Azores (the AZAB race) and back to England (2nd in class)
