Have also installed a 165A large frame (190A cold) alternator for the house system by removing the stbd forward motor mount and replacing it with a custom built frame to hold and adjust the alternator without cantileavering the alternator mass off of the engine block itself. The new mount is, of course, still bolted to the engine.

Installed a Harkin mainsheet traveler, huge radar arch, mast safety rails, solent stay, and Muir windlass with washdown pump.

I still haven't figured out how to keep the stock opening ports (not the aluminum frame ones in the aft cabin) from leaking, not sure that I have the screens and half-wrap plastic inserts installed correctly...any comments?

I have had some leakage from the upper bearing under conditions when the seas were high and the boat speed was over 7kts. Under those conditions the water pressure is well above zero and I don't believe that the upper bearing is much of a water barrier by design as it is normally at or below the water line at rest. Regardless, I built a large aluminum channel that runs from the port hull to starbd at the level of the top of the rudder post. I installed a Delrin bearing and carefully centered it in the channel. This is so that there is a well placed moment arm to prevent movement of the rudder shaft within the top hull bearing. Haven't had leakage since then. I converted from cable steering to hydraulic so that I can use a "real" autopilot having horsepower that will steer the boat under any conditions, which it does. I did this to my previous cruising boat with great success.

Hello Rick, glad to come across someone whi has the same boat as myself. I don't often see to many other Landfall 39's out there. I'm just curious if you have had any experience with the Landfall 39's upper rudder bearing. Mine has recently started leaking after a lengthy haul out period. Any help would be appreciated thank you.
