Hi alex, food is better for long term storage here at phuket, the big supermarket just around from the roundabout has vegemite and other goodies, dried potato, etc. But langkawi is good for fuel and water.
as for charts, just get copies from the copy shop in kuah, the indian guys, a few good anchorages that avoid the sumatrans, bay of plenty and bankarus or treasure island are good. Most charts and chart plotters are out up there, maybe 2 nmiles? do not move at night near any hazards and be in a safe anchorage by 1400 hrs at the latest, time arrivals at bays for morning or mid afternoon, depending on the sun at that location, behind you!
Radar is the only tool at night that is safe, best to be well away from land at night.
The indian guys will give u all the good charts.
Cheaper to provision in kuah or banda Aceh than phuket, but little choice.
well, back to the repairs for me.
    good luck Alex.

    Hey Folks,
Keith, so sorry to hear about your vessel's plight. Where was it anchored? I had several long time indo friends that was working on the Midas for about 10 years. Apparently there boat burned to the waterline at Maca's. Again so sorry to hear about your boat. Dingoman

Hi Keith, It's pretty hot out there, what are you doing during the night to stay cool? Would the normal cabin fans be sufficient, or are you using some type of air conditioning? Also are you taking any anti malarials???? I know there is a lot of Malaria out there............................................
