    Hi Don,
Not sure you'd be interested or Fb at all, but I just started a Nor'West 33 owners group for people who have or are interested in the boat:
(It won't let me post the url, so just search for Nor'West 33 Harbor)

Pretty new so only 4 members so far, but of course it's destined to remain small!

Try exporting them in a smaller format to your desktop and then load them from there. That has worked for me in the past.
I am terrified to sail your boat. I'll probably have to buy one!

By the way, with you being a Moderator do you have any advice why all the pictures I try to post on this forum are upside down? Don't have the problem elsewhere.

They moved the lower shrouds out with the cap shrouds with hull number 9- guess who has hull #8! I haven't tried it yet, but it looks like you could run the jib sheets inside the shrouds since the tracks are mid deck- if desired anyway if you only roll it out to 90% or so, something I will probably play with.

Be sure to give me a heads up if you're ever coming up to the Bay Area!

Yes, I remember lots of talk of their pointing ability, and you may lose a bit of that by moving shrouds out, but I do know that chainplate set-up has over time turned out to be a weak point. I'd love to sail on her anytime!

The first two months of ownership were on the hard doing barrier coat (YUCK!) which it didn't really need but since it's my 'forever boat' at least I'll never have to deal with it again. I've only been out a few times now but I'm starting to find the sailing ability of these boats is true. I don't have a ton of experience but her pointing ability, especially for a full keeler, is uncanny. I'm pretty confident she can outpoint my fin keel-spade rudder Columbia 28 which was no slouch! She sure reverses like a drunk rhino though- LOL!

If you're ever up this way I'd love to take you out on her! Also sailing the Channel Islands is on my bucket list so we will hopefully be down there some day. You'll probably find it interesting that I just helped a friend sell a Columbia 29 MK I. I'll probably be going out with the new owner on it (we were going to last week, but the shift cable broke!) and I'm eager to see how she compares to my 28.

    Best wishes,
    Jim

I hadn't planned on "going bigger" from my Columbia 28 for several more years when my wife and I can hopefully do some cruising, but the Nor'West showed up at the marina in Napa 6 boats down from mine. I had to walk past it for six months as it surprisingly just wouldn't sell (at one point I told the broker/harbormaster "please sell that damn thing so I can stop looking at it!") but I weakened and they bit on a pretty low offer and so now I'm like the dog that caught the car!

It has been a bit neglected maintenance-wise for the last several years, the biggest issue being the forward shrouds attached to the cabin top have pulled it up slightly especially on the starboard side which scared a lot of people away. There is an internal rigging screw anchoring it in place but my eventual plan is to move the lowers to the outer hull to solve the issue.

I see you have a Nor'West 33! I always admired those when they came out and heard they performed really well. Never got a chance to sail one though. It's always been on my list if I ever go bigger...
