We've had bloodhounds now for about 35 years and yes, cleaning slobber of the ceiling is a real chore if they've been allowed indoors much. Our worst was after Potsdam, NY winter of -10 to -25F - Spring was cleaning time and crystalized slobber was the order of the day. But you have to love them. Have you tried tracking? Great fun if the hound has any nose at all.
Cheers,
Ralph

This is Rufus a rescue from Ohio. Friends for Summit Search and Rescue (ssarbloodhounds.org) put us on to him at Riverside Bloodhound Rescue (riversidebloodhoundrescure.com) a couple years ago. He has been great if you do not mind cleaning drool off the ceiling.

Whose the bloodhound? We have three ourselves, four if you count the boat, also named Bloodhound. Cheers,
