Thought this might be of use to those of us with the smaller boats... I have a Columbia 29 and I have fitted it with a set of oars. While I am not ready to ditch the engine (outboard in my case) they are a nice addition and option so far. Getting into and out of the slip is sure easy! Here is the link:

Looking good there . Also it will give you one heck of a good workout.

I probably have too much freeboard but great idea. There have been several times I could have used emergency oars.

Try using the longer oars that they sell for drift boats if you have a higher freeboard they are a good 14 or 15 feet long when assembled.

They really are not too much of a workout. I came back in the harbor pretty leisurely and in a dead calm harbor I could poke along at about walking speed pretty easily. With oars you'll get a number of folks giving you a thumbs up. I had a nice guy come by and ask if I needed a tow. Nope, doing fine, thanks.

We have towed our Bayfield 29 when it's engine was dead with our Walker Bay 8. Not fast, but fun and we were able to get into the anchorage before dark!
