Re: Saying goodbye to my best friend...

Keep the good memories with you. Saying goodbye is always hard, but knowing you had a fun life together is comforting.
My sympathies to you

Re: Saying goodbye to my best friend...

Sorry Tom
Beeen there done that, our beloved "Matilda" passed this winter while in the Bahama, after 18 years of joy.
Eventually the tears will become smiles when you think of her.

I'm lying here in the aft berth with Peanut and morning coffee. Can't imagine losing her.

Yep. Cheryl and I are quite sure of that. Thanks so much to all for the words of comfort and encouragement. It's been a rough time.

Re: Saying goodbye to my best friend...

SO sorry to hear this. I lost my buddy, Zack, to congestive heart failure several years ago. I held him and talked to him for 2 hours (he didn't say much) before I could hand him over to the Vet. His can of ashes is tucked into his favorite sock toy and sitting in his bed in my room surrounded by all his favorite toys. I'm looking over at a shot of him "keeping watch" on deck from when we lived aboard. OK, ya got me crying now.

RIP Buffett

Mike

Re: Saying goodbye to my best friend...

Tom what a good thread, as I said really sorry, but it gave us all a chance to think about, and maybe shed a tear for all of our lost "Best Friends"

I had to put my black lab mikki to sleep almost a year to the day. Their isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of him.

It's hard saying goodbye to something so precious that loves you so unconditionally. Your love for them never dies and their memory warms your heart for your entire life. I fondly remember every pet I have ever had...

My retriever mix Sasha that has been the love of my life for almost 10 years was just diagnosed 2 weeks ago with advanced lymphoma. It is a terminal form of cancer. Sasha's days are numbered.

I'm going to miss her badly when she goes... All I can do now is love and cherish her as much as possible while I still have her...
