Safety: Kids Manning the Dinghy:

Sometimes I feel like it's the same as letting them use the radial arm saw.
That prop on the outboard is a dangerous thing.
We have strict rules, and one of the older kids is along when the younger one are operating the outboard.

I stress to them all the hazards:

Don't get worked up,, that pic is at Lake Havasu and it's all special movie makeup for the movie Piranha.
It's fake, but it scares the kids.

Yeah, it didn't look real to me. Not enough blood, and how is that guy standing?
Kids become adults somehow. Don't shelter them too much.

Re: Safety: Kids Manning the Dinghy:

Reminded me of a poster we had up in the scuba shop I worked at in Colorado in the 70s. I believe it was a Red Cross propellor safety poster. It was a picture of a guy pulled up onto a dock with his intestines spilled out. Always seemed odd to me to have such a grisly poster in a place trying to sell stuff.
