Cool My Best Boat alarm.....no gun needed...

I was awakened in the middle of the night last night by a howl of pain and then a scream of terror that sounded like a little girl. I rushed on deck to find two young men hauling ass in an inflatable and my dog with about half a t-shirt in her mouth and blood all over the deck. She's not a barker but she sure as hell is a biter (half pitt/half lab) if she thinks her home (my boat is threatened). I was on the ocean side of Elliot Key near long reef. The Park Ranger came out this morning and couldn't stop laughing. So if you see a guy that's a bit chewed up at the bar tell him he left some of his shirt here Here is my anti-piracy setup......seems to work pretty well, doesn't use any electricity, and she can work off steak.
P.S. I have pics of the mess on deck but they're on the camera phone I'll try to upload later

It's not the boat that the dog was protecting it was you. If you do your part and take care of the dog, they will do their part when the time comes. Cats can also be very territorial and aggressive. It has been my experience that animals are great judges of people.

And the look on her face seems to say, "And what did you THINK I was going to do?"

She's got a doggy door and likes to sleep in the cockpit. Being that she's all black he probably did not even see her till she had half his butt in her jaws! I wish I had web cams running on the boat, it would've been great to see how fast he got off the boat!

That is GREAT news!! Glad to hear that it never went any further and everyone is OK. I love hearing idiots getting what they deserve!! Give your best buddy a steak on me!! Nice JOB!!

Just curious, were you the only boat around or were those 2 idiots doing a random target of looting??

With all due respect to your heroic pup, I hope the begger get's a heroic infection!

(I don't suppose the local constabulary canvassed the local ER's and "Doc in the Box" shops to see who might have visited with bite wounds, eh?)

Cheers,

s/v HyLyte

PS: We're glad you and your family were unharmed!

I was the only one on the ocean side but I saw about six boats on my way out on the grass bed side. I lock the dink's outboard with steel cable at night so not much of value above deck, so I figure kids from one of the boats screwing around

"mom i learned not to board other peoples boats without permission last night!"

P.S. We're back at the mooring now to pick up the wife that's getting a nice t-bone for her and one for me . Spent the day cleaning up as the wife can't stand blood!

Hmmmmmmm! ….. 3 people adrift on a small dismasted sailboat for months…when finally discovered Fido the half pit/half lab licked her chops and waited patiently for them to board the seemingly deserted boat…….

Thanks Pelagic you gave the wife and I a good laugh! (i think they would find me in the freezer and a happy woman and dog anchored off a deserted little island.)
