Kid Boats and 2017 Salty Dawg Rally

Any other kid boats thinking of joining the Salty Dawg Rally this Fall? We plan to join with our 8 and 13 year olds and hope we might see a core group of kid boats. Back in 2013, we had a great contingent of half a dozen kid boats and were able to organize all sorts of activities and mutual support. The organizers made it a really super experience for the kids (and parents too).

Hi, just saw your post. We plan to head south in November. Boat is in Baltimore now. Not sure if we will join the rally, but it is possible. I may move the boat the the VI and have the wife and kids fly and meet there. Our kids are 7 and 9, girls.

Has the "Salty Dawg" got better? last time I checked they weren't much of a rally in organization or support. they had a very bad rep for leaving people hanging.

I don't have personal experience with the rally but have been on the web page. for $300 you get a week of passage prep seminars/demonstrations and professional weather routing. You get someone looking out for you in an emergency at sea, not to mention the other boats. And there's a bunch of social evens in the BVI and moorings included I believe. Not a lot of money for that... i'm just not sure the schedule will work for me

S/V Aphrodite is planning on participating in the Fall Salty Dog. We will have a crew of 4 adults and two kids ages 8 and 10. We are looking forward to meeting all of you.
