31 (& counting)

Many Bluewater Cruisers, having left traditional society behind, tend to make their own social rules (although the golden rule is usually first). We don't ask if folks are married, & we don't bother with surnames. They're commited to each other, which is what really matters to them (if not to governments). They often don't need society to bless that commitment.

Having said that, our 2nd anniversary was on our "Yacht" in the Caribbean (which is how we descibe our boat to someone who's never seen it, & is never likely to do so). After cruising for 7 years we moved ashore to raise kids, but we took them cruising when they were 12 & 15 until they left for college. We've now celebrated 31 years of marriage, & more than half of those years have been cruising.

single wannabe

Single for 14 years. Kinda looking, but the good ones are all taken. Would love to be cruising, but have to work to survive. I have a 10 year old grandchild to raise. I would love to take her with me, homeschool her, and sail into the sunset... maybe I will win lotto or find a captain who loves me and needs a first mate and little swabby. Not likely, but ya gotta dream!

Single, though not really cruising yet -- trying to finish up the refit. Not actively looking, but not dead yet either. However, I live on my boat, which still looks like a construction site, so she'd have to have an open mind.

Oh, but I do have great dog.

We've been living together for 14 years and we really don't want to get married.

single, but cruising inyernationally soon

Got divorced 8 years ago and thought last summer I found HER for the rest of my life and our full-time cruise to start in summer 2011. Sold monohull, started looking for our cat, but found out, we are not compatible on land and will less so in the relative confinement of a boat. She is gone, I am looking (for the cat at least) and will still start cruising in 6 month. Probably as single. But didn't someone early buying the boat and the female seller stayed aboard ? I guess, nothing is impossible. With my 54 years I am still a hopeless romantic idealist

For those men soon or recently turned single-handers - you want to make your way to Luperon, Dominican Republic. Then rent a small motorcycle from Jose and tour the mountains. There are many, many young women trained in the "old world traditions of womanhood" who will make your new life very pleasant and they will be very happy to take care of you and your boat the way a man should be . . .

We just had our 25th anniversary on our boat. I'm married to:
MsActiveCaptain profile

We've been doing coastal cruising/Bahamas for 8 years now. Currently spend 9 months a year on the boat and 3 months on land (the good Maine months). Our crew consists of 2 labrador retrievers - a grandmother and her grandson:

Here are a few photos of my dog Zoe (sorry, she's from St. Louis, not the Dominican). She's a 7 year old Australian Shepherd rescue that I've had for almost 6 years.
