Hi Everyone!
My boyfriend and I are planning our first season in the
Caribbean and are wondering how to go about getting our
dogs back and forth. They are both
english setter/brittany spaniel crosses and are not used to high heat. I'm not concerned once we get on the
boat as I will have
cooling mats and they both love to swim.
My main concern is flying them back to
Newfoundland at the end of the season when we go home for the summer. I have heard many horror stories about
dogs dying from heat stroke on
airport tarmacs and am terrified of flying them in and out of the
Caribbean, it being a very hot place.
Has anyone else done this? Are certain airlines better than others? Certain airports more reliable than others at keeping
pets cool and off the tarmac? Any
advice would be appreciated.
We will be sailing from
Newfoundland to
BVI on our first trip, then leaving the
boat there and flying from for the summer, then flying back again in the fall.
Thanks everyone!
