Dumb Question . . .

My husband and I are planning on moving onto our boat (in the BVIs) at the first of the year. We will be moving our two cats with us. For the next two years we plan to cruise the eastern Caribbean and hope to return home twice a year for visits (with the cats). I understand the whole process for leaving the US with health certificates. We do not plan to take the cats ashore anywhere except when we fly home. Where the info gets sketchy is when the cats have been on a boat for (say) 6-9 months and now we want to bring them ashore to fly home. The process seems to be simpler if the cats had a EU passport -- can an American cat get an EU pet passport? . . . I know, dumb. The whole timing involved with health certificates has me confused.

Pets taken out of the United States are subject upon return to the same regulations as those entering for the first time.
