Re: Condos near anchorages in Bahamas

For an ideal secluded holiday you can anchor off Norman's Cay in the Exumas and rent one of the two cottages right on the beach. Norman's Cay has a population of 10 and has a restaurant bar and an airport. You're a doable dingy ride to visiting iguanas at Allan Cay as well as Highbourne Cay which has a restaurant and small general store. With heavenly water colors you're gonna luv that entire area of the northern Exuma Cays.

We always have had a lovely time in Great Guana Cay. It was very laid back but that was a dozen years ago.

Re: Condos near anchorages in Bahamas

One note about Treasure Cay to mention: The anchorage/mooring area tends to be tightly packed and at least all the times I've been there, there were almost no moorings. Maybe that's changed, but it's worth checking on. Also, last I was there, the charge an anchoring fee which includes use of the general resort facilities including showers. (in poor condition when I was last there).

One could anchor out in the sea of Abaco, with plenty of room (which I've done a few times) but that's not going to be comfortable in all conditions and necessitates a longer dingy ride in.

I personally prefer the quieter, less crowded more quaint atmosphere of G.T. or Hopetown, but obviously that's a matter of personal opinion. (Lots of loud music many nights at Treasure)

Re: Condos near anchorages in Bahamas

You might consider the Abacos;( Marsh Harbor, Elbow Key, Treasure Key, Guana Key, Green turtle Key) all have housing, marinas, and anchorages. Durring the winter you will need to have a protected anchorage for frontal pasages
