Senor, that has to be one of the best pics ever! His stern scowl and the litter scoop on the rail are perfect! I've got two cats now...it's funny how one can connect with those aloof monsters.

Kaspar de Wonda Dawg

The Cabin girl and I sprung Dog Boy from the pound when he was 5 yrs old. He has been on the boat for 2 years. The open square port on the right leads to his own cabin & queen sized berth. He was supposed to live in the cockpit but no one mentioned that to Mr K. We have to keep out port closed otherwise he will climb in with us VERY early in the morning to remind us to take him ashore for his walk.

He is a Dalmatian / Boxer cross and is smarter than my kids when they were teenagers. He loves watching dolphins & whales and hates jet skis.

Hey Paul! I wouldn't mess with your boat with Dog Boy around! BTW, whats mounted on the stern right behind your back in the picture?

Hi Christian
Kaspar is a lover not a fighter. He is particularly fond of Staffies as they too have a bottomless pit of energy.
The ugly stainless box on the stern is courtesy of the draconian boating laws that the Queeensland state government in australia. Recently in their wisdom, the bureaucrats decided that gas hot water heaters could not be in any room of a boat where it is possible to lie on the floor even in an uncomfortable position. They wanted to protect people who might be stupid or drunk enough to think that the floor of the head would be the best place to take a nap. Can't have such an idiot being stopped from passing on his genes because they died in the unlikely event that there was a gas leak. Gas heaters are not allowed anywhere on the same level as sleeping accomodation. Hence, the heater, which BTW has electronic ignition & does not have a pilot light, had to be stuck somewhere outside. The choices were A) in a cockpit locker & have a flue to the outside, B) on the wall of the cockpit or C) bolted onto the back of the transom. A = locker 2 small; B= ugly + have to look at it all the time. So C was it -where it still is butt ugly but I don't have to look at it, just every body else.

It does make a good shelf for putting plates when I BBQ. I eventually hope to build a fibrelglass locker around it & balance it with another locker on the other side. Don't get me started on the anticruising lobby in Qld - recently any craft (even short term visitors) over 49ft / 15m must have insurance for pollution clean up or wreck recovery else they will be fined. They just raised boat registrations by 125%. They promise to put in more boat ramps for the tinnie users. Fat lot of good that does for me even if they kept their promises - YEAH, AS IF. Sorry for the rant - VERY OT

Anyway that what that butt ugly box is.

More power to boat pets. They keep sane, fit & away from the bar

Paul
