Re: Admiral Ann Cate

Ann proves the concept that it is far easier to be nice, and sets a wonderful example for us all.

Ann & Jim's contributions have always been helpful and in many cases humorous.

Their knowledgebase is incredible. Probably comes from the fact that they started out on a Catalina 22 in San Francisco. Now, hmm, who else among us could have done that?

Thanks for all the years of help and fun. Keep it up.

Ann, you have been for me, the voice of reason, good sense, kindness, wisdom and experience on CF. The knowledge and experience that you and Jim share is beyond measure and so is the gentle, sympathetic, constructive way you share it. Always helpful not judgmental. Yes, you are excellent role models for cruisers and for forum participants and for me. Wishing you both a happy new year!

Re: Admiral Ann Cate

Let me thank all of you again. It has been really heartwarming for Jim and me to read this as Christmas Day approaches, here on the "other" side of the date line.

Bless you all, and stay well!

Ann

Re: Admiral Ann Cate

I don’t post often, but find the content here very informative. When I see comments from a number of members I know they will be worth reading (and remembering). I am glad you will be continuing to post...

Additionally, no matter what the subject is you will always find unexpected jewels, such as post #19 and the ‘arrrrrrh rate’ - nearly made me spit my tea out - so funny!!! Or maybe it just a UK thing.

Re: Admiral Ann Cate

This is about the only thing I'm qualified to post about. When I read a post that really answers my question, I look down and see the name Ann, I really pay attention. Thank you Ann for helping us.

Ann, I always read your contributions with interest.

Yes, Dan, THIS!!!

Ann has been instrumental in getting me through the kidney tumor removal, lasting the 4 years in dry storage (the vessel, not me, well not ENTIRELY me..), and getting through the experience this week of seeing that beautiful hull paint job then what I saw this last week when returning to my dear Equinox. The growth on the topsides made the white look like a jungle floor, and though somehow the sailboat was dry as a bone inside, the ugliness growing (literally) on the teak handrails and topside as well as the cracks in the new ablative that had not even seen water made me literally sick with frustration. Then I thought about Ann and what she might have said, called the yard master and pulled the stick, started pulling out fragments of wire and coax, ground out all the corrosion around the shoe and masthead fitting, etc.. You would not believe how much salt can cake into masthead sheaves.. Work is progressing, and we are getting there. See, even when Ann is not directly speaking to me, she SPEAKS to me!

Love you Ann!!: smitten:

Re: Admiral Ann Cate

Ann I'm glad you're not swallowing the anchor.

You are the only person on this forum that can read one of my questions and gently tell me I have my head up my bum and it's said so kindly that I wind up thanking you. Truth.

Jim on the other hand.....

Re: Admiral Ann Cate

I'm feeling really touched by all this lovely praise. I am glad to have helped. To me, it's what I'm here for, so it validates my presence. We received so much from the cruising community over the years. We both want to give back. What you all have written is really beautiful. Two of my kids have read the thread, too. Thank you for appreciating me. It is a blessing.

Ann
