Which electric oven do you have?

We swapped out propane for a 100% electric galley.

We have an induction cook top, on top of a NINJA DT251 Foodi 10-in-1 Smart Air Fry Digital Countertop Convection Toaster Oven, mounted to a gimbal I made.

The induction cook top works great, but the Ninja oven seems to have a hard time getting and staying at 350-400* F.

Inverter, generator, or shore power, same results.

I've already replaced it once thinking we had a bad unit.

Now we are looking at more commercial quarter size countertop convection ovens online.

Who else has gone electric, or has some good reviews on an oven?

Re: Which electric oven do you have?

I use an evacuuated tube solar oven.

There are some models that are hybrid electric/solar, but for me pure solar is plenty. Considering the vacuum insulation, even on pure electric the efficiency is a lot higher than conventional ovens.

On a sunny day it bakes a potatos in 1 hour 20 minutes.

Re: Which electric oven do you have?

Had the same problem having got rid of the gas and installed a double induction hob. Then saw a video on YT about a Remoska being used in a small RV to cook a full roast dinner.

Bought a second hand one of FB Market place and brought it home. She turned her nose up at it so I cooked a roast chicken dinner. She was shocked, the meat just fell off the bone and so moist. Fish and cakes followed again, superb.

We now have one on the yacht and two at home we like them so much. Single 180c (355f) temperature, but that is the ideal temperature for so many dishes. Pretty much bomb proof because there is little to go wrong. Superb FB group called Remoskateers. Post 8 has some photos: https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...bo-282231.html

Re: Which electric oven do you have?

for the oven, get a combination microwave, grill and fan oven with no turntable like panasonic.
cooks a 1 kilo chicken to perfection in around 30 mins, yes, that’s right, 1 kilo in 30 mins

probably the fastest and least energy use to cook a 1 kilo chicken in the world!!!

ok, you want to argue… then get yourself a halogen oven for 45 dollars… cooks a 1 kilo chicken to more than perfection in 60 minutes, complete with the potatoes and other vege.
the most unpractical device for a sail boat if you do not have adjustable fiddles.
clean 30 times and then buy new..(unless the lid fell off earlier)

Re: Which electric oven do you have?

Have motorboat and converted away from propane to electric to avoid multi fuel and storage safety issues.
Replaced with
*Walmart brand Microwave AirFry combi
*2 zone Empava 120v induction cooktop
*Blackstone 2 zone electric griddle.

All work great off generator - I bother the battery bank only for short microwave warm ups of up to 5min

Shortcomings are due to limited input power max 120v 1450W on induction and griddle. Induction has hard time heating bigger pot of water(Spaghetti) due to heat escape to all sides so insulated cover and pot should improve the issue. Love the low power input selection.
Griddle - same does not like winds (we do on cockpit) seems to cool down even with nice cover lid. Was thinking on some heat tape tweaking so wind goes around not in or under the griddle plate.

We have 1900W gas inverter generator which revs up and the shorter the cooking the better

Hope this is useful for somebody.
Enjoy everybody!

Re: Which electric oven do you have?

We bought a Breville Smart Oven Pro on sale for NZD200 a few years ago when we tossed the propane. It fits in the cavity where the oven used to sit. No gimbals as we’re on a cat. It grills and bakes, but isn’t a microwave - convection microwaves that can also grill were way more money and we’re not sure about the utility of a microwave on a boat when we’re not time poor. We do lots of baking and it works well for that, though after 4 years its fan has stopped working. Oh well, cheap to replace.

We also have a solar oven from GoSun. The tube form factor is a bit limiting but it makes awesome baguettes, is very good at roasting raw nuts and refreshing stale crackers, and moderately good at roasting. It does need full or near full sun consistently for the hour or two.

On the utility of a microwave thing, we do find ours useful (came with the boat instead of an oven, but it'll get replaced with a convection microwave combo at some point). Most of the time it's used for re-heating things, much the same as we do at home. So if I'm having some of last night's dinner leftovers for lunch, I'll probably use the microwave to re-heat them. Not having one wouldn't be a big deal, but it's a convenient, fairly low power way to reheat small amounts of food, so it's nice to have if there's space for one.

Re: Which electric oven do you have?

We have a combo oven Panasonic NN-CS89LB sitting in our land based kitchen waiting to be "gimbal'd", copied the idea directly from blog SVTheDream. Just trying to figure out how to create a countertop to surround the 2 plate hob. Pour our own resin one? Marine ply covered in layer of epoxy resin? (thoughts welcome!) Never straightforward is it?

Im in same spot. Just ordered a Nuwave induction single hob and am trying to find a reliable convection oven that works well. Was just looking at the Ninja. Maybe i'll give it a pass.

The Remoska looks interesting. Amazon has a decent one. Maybe ill try that. People seem to love them. I wonder if they do pizza?
