Toaster

I have been using my propane stove and a little wire metal thing to make toast and have charred lots of bread in the process (and this morning). Just wondering about low amp toaster...any such thing? I have 2x12v battery and a xantrex 1000 inverter... thanks..

I switched from a little camp toaster to a non-stick frying pan. It is faster and it makes beautiful toast but you can still char it if you don't watch it!

Depends what you mean by "low", and these 12v batteries are they 55 A/H or 250 A/H?

Butter 2 slices of bread... stick em together and chuck on a hot skillet... flip after a minute... keep flipping till done to your 'Char'

I thought "real" sailors chucked it on the engine and revved it up a bit.

I have a Beneteau therefore use Boatmans method.

We use one of these:

SEA DOG Stainless-Steel Stove-Top Toaster at West Marine

Apparently everyone hates them but it works fine for us. The secret is to keep the flame low and keep flipping the bread. If you just leave it one place it will burn.

I've been doing the stove top thing, but think I'm going to get a regular toaster and run it off the inverter.

The stove top is using propane than has to be refilled on shore. The inverter uses battery power that the solar panel replaces for free!

You're eating an incredible amount of toast if the single burner on low for two minutes is materially impacting your propane usage.

I just use a regular store bought electric toaster. It really is a lot easier, and doesn't make a different amp-wise in the whole scheme of things. It's not like we live off toast.

a little propane for this and a little for that

either way I can use the free solar power and be using the stove to cook eggs and bacon while the toaster does its' thing with the bread

Wallymart had a nice Colman Stainless mouse trap type wire toaster for about $3. If you put a pot top on the top it works much more quickly and even toasting. Faster than my electric toaster at home and does 4 at once.

How about pure solar with one of these?

I had one of those from walmart.They toast almost as well as they float.Go with butter bread,throw in skillet,flip & eat.marc

doesn't well early in the morning and by noon toast isn't as desirable
