I just bought 250 very heavy duty paper bags - they'll keep potatoes,onions apples, oranges, lemons, limes, tomatoes, garlic, sweet potatoes (or kumara if you're from nz), butternut pumpkin fresher for longer by keeping them dry and keeping the light off them. I keep my eggs in them(inside their cartons) too, seems to help them last longer. How come no-one mentioned red wine? if you come from a mediterranean background its as much a staple as olive oil and garlic. little bit of olive oil in a pan, some onion, garlic, tin of tomatoes, bit of red wine, dried basil, salt, pepper,any pasta to pour it on, bit of parmesan on top, glass of same wine, perfect.
