Super Wave Oven - Gimmick ? Or Has Anyone Used One ?

I was watching the add for this last night, too lazy to hit the remote.
Now i'm busy plotting to move stuff aboard and working on my need and wants i got to thinkin'.
I hate food out of microwaves. Something about the weird taste i seem to get from them.
but this looks like it could be useful, with it's low power consumption, so does anyone own one?

SUPER WAVE OVEN

Kinda reminds me of an Easy Bake Oven from 1963

I've had cookies out of one of those Easy bake things. They were terrible tbh but i ate them to be polite to a small child.

I have something like it which was sold by Ronco on the TV years ago,,it's made of hard plastic and is a convection over grill type thing,,,, it works like a charm and the food that comes out of it is fantastic.
Not built very durable though.

Not sure about power consumption as i usually only use it when i have company, i make garlic spare ribs,, and Spicy Chicken wings and the like,,finger food mostly,, but it doesn't seem to create much resistance at the plug,,very little heat in the Cord,,which is a sure fired indicator of heavy draw. i would imagine the newer models would be more energy efficient.

Thanks for that. After reading the reviews, it seems although it cooks well and quickly it isn't really robust enough for a boat environment. A good percentage of the complaints were the halogen bulb or fan breaking.
Oh well. was just an idea.

Re: Gimmick? Or has anyne used one?

i have one from the uk in my apartment in china (no regulars ovens) and one on the boat. i cook in it all the time. see my "upgrades" page.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Andrew-James...0419648&sr=8-1

it cooks quickly and, to a degree, self cleans. probably not for use at sea but if you've got shore power or a genset it's great when in a marina or moored.

i bought the first one as an experiment - for around $us100 how wrong can you be - and quickly bought a second.
