Spice Rack ideas
Hi,
Im just wanting to install a spice rack and wondered if anyone has any great new designs/ideas. Or do I just go with the standard teak shelf type style.

Re: Spice Rack ideas
Also interested to hear/see peoples' spice rack storage. Mine are taking up a lot cupboard space at the moment.

Re: Spice Rack ideas
Why would you need a spice rack. Just duct tape the bottles to the wall.
See I can return a useful thread post

Re: Spice Rack ideas
For the ultimate in space conservation I've seen people attached the lids underneath anywhere there's room. you simply unscrew the bottle use what you need and screw back in

Spices react badly to the adhesives in Duct tape. For optimal spice storage you'll need full on gaffers tape. The heavier material blocks the damaging sunlight.

Didn't go with the standard teak spice rack, but did make a pull down rack that fits under the galley cabinet. Used white plastic airtight bottles to hold and protect the spices from moisture and sunlight. Pictures of the spice rack can be found here along with an under cabinet knife holder.

Re: Spice Rack ideas
I’m not sure how practical this setup is for most folks, but I’m in the middle of refitting my entire galley and installed this spice rack that is meant for a regular house kitchen.
It’s working well so far and is pretty convenient. The only downside so far is bigger spice containers don’t fit quite rite as you can see in the picture.

Re: Spice Rack ideas
I like that. You could always buy generic containers that are uniform and just repackage the spices

Re: Spice Rack ideas
Oh and I forgot we have another more easily installed alternative. This magnetic one that we bought before deciding on the built in. We don’t really use it, but I imagine it could work well for some people.

I'm an equal opportunity stower... this has worked for over a quarter century.... any small 'in use' bottles & jars/medications/etc/etc go on the racks..
Currently in 'harbour stow'... at sea I just mix and match until all secure.

Wait, you mean there's more than salt & pepper?

Yours is essentially what we do as well, both spices and liquor bottles.

Re: Spice Rack ideas
This spice rack is fantastic! We've owned two of these since 2012. (My wife does a lot of plant-based cooking with recipes from around the world, so we use a wide variety of spices).
