Re: Solar-Powered Water Purifier

Looks very interesting. If they could make it collapsible, it would be great.

Re: Solar-Powered Water Purifier

Not much product water, for the space it takes up.
“... The UB-led research team addressed these issues by creating a solar still about the size of mini-refrigerator...
... Based upon test results, researchers believe the still is capable of producing 3 to 10 liters of water per day ...”

Google "Lifestraw" or "Burkey"

They're both excellent products, and no power required.

Re: Solar-Powered Water Purifier

Burkey and LifeStraw are filters, but not stills. They'll make dirty freshwater drinkable. But they won't turn salt water to fresh, which is what most sailors need.

There are many variations of solar still that sailors can use. I think a small inflatable one kept Steve Callahan alive on his raft for 76 days or whatever it was. . . .

I'm always curious to see what portable/collapsible/compact versions people come up with, as a cheap alternative to RO watermakers.
