Re: Solar oven?

You can buy this model all day on eBay for $50 free shipping I got it for 40 because it's an open box. stay tuned for evaluation. And yes I would prefer the 5-inch diameter model but not at four times or more the price.Click image for larger version

This is the best price ($150)for a large-diameter vacuum tube, tray with temperature gauge and silicone pans.

Re: Solar oven?

Well my friend that I had my solar oven shipped to finally got back. To my surprise it wasn't the exact model I ordered but a more expensive model. Some assembly-disassembly time but better Stainless than regular steel legs, and no notch in the reflector. I also found out why the person sent it back, a piece came unglued, nothing a little J-B weld can't fix. Also to my surprise it came with a very nice carry case that was not mentioned in the sale. I'm definitely going to have to figure out a way to keep it from being knocked over by wind.Click image for larger version

Re: Solar oven?

Too windy today to try the oven. But I was able to make a pivoting mount [emoji16]. I already had the Driftwood part from my experiments with a rocket stove. The Driftwood is attached to a clamp made for Magma stoves. Eventually I'll make the whole thing out of PVC board. If you look closely underneath the magma clamp I put a clamp that is made for garden hoses so that when I loosen the magma it rotates easily without slipping down.Click image for larger version

PS. the clamp is easily removable so I can switch sides depending on where the sun is.

Re: Solar oven?

I'm having great success with my vacuum tube oven, will do a review shortly. As far as the other type of ovens go these are the best 2 videos I've come acrost.

Re: Solar oven?

I'm not sure why anyone would want the original gosun when you can buy an almost identical one for $55 but for those interested here's one for $139

Re: Solar oven?

I can't remember where they were sold but one inch mirrors were attached to a mat I believe it was a square foot, that should make transforming a satellite dish into a solar cooker quite easy. They are very directional but if you're standing there frying something it shouldn't be a problem unless the boat is swinging a lot at anchor. But if you cook on the beach that's irrelevant. the other problem I see with it is it's going to take up a lot of space but if you use it on a regular basis I think it would be worth it.

Here's the cheapest gosun sport I've seen, but like I said you can get virtually the same thing for half the price.
