provisioning in Caribbean

Hi, does anyone know if it is cheaper to provision in Martinique or St Lucia? We will have to do some provisioning in Le Marin but to what extent we are wondering. We will be doing short sails, working our way up to Puerto Rico area by the middle of December. Best places to stop along the way? Best places to avoid along the way?

Re: provisioning in Caribbean

We found some things cheaper, but others more expensive. Never really saw a savings one way or the other. More abput availability. Exception being french products in french islands (cheese and wine). We did major provisioning in PR in May at Walmart, target, super pueplo, Home Depot, etc. Seemed to be the place to get the American products we had been missing for a year or so.

Also fuel at Ponce Yacht club, cheapest I’ve come across of any quality.

Disclaimer- all this was before the hurricanes

Re: provisioning in Caribbean

Rodney bay in St Lucia is great for provisioning.....good anchorage and can reach two large grocery stores at dinghy dock. Very accessible and good selection with reasonable prices.
Le Marin had a large grocery, but the fresh supplies..meat and produce....were marginal to poor. Large grocery in Fort Du France very close to dinghy dock as well......great selection of wines and cheeses.
Different stores suit different tastes and styles of eating, but don’t expect produce or meat selection like the US.....just sayin......

Another vote for Rodney Bay on St. Lucia. Moorings and Sunsail have their base there and we did all of our provisioning there before our bareboat charter.
