Ignoring the insult for the moment, the least inexpensive way to replace tank that's rusted or otherwise in need of replacement is to exchange it.

20 lb is pretty common but there are other sizes available.

If you have an option as in your building a propane locker or something, I believe the 20 lb is far more available and far cheaper. I can buy a filled 20 lb cylinder at almost anyplace for $50, the 11lb aluminum one I paid $200 from Defender, had to pay shipping and have it purged and filled.
20 lb ones are steel and rust though, but can be exchanged for not much money

Some people actually cruise in the US or Canada or Europe as well as Rio Dulce.

In some places it's much less trouble to refill a tank and in the US exchanging the tank is the easiest method. Europe as well from what I hear.

I took our spare LP tank to get refilled in Chesapeake VA and it too was out of certification (only lasts 10 yrs apparently). The Propane place re-cert'ed it and filled in for $20.00 total

The guy said they had similar ones in stock if I needed a spare. I told him this one was the spare. His price for a new one was $230.00. I had no idea these aluminum tanks were so expensive.
