Just a comment about foraging when cruising the Bahamas. Out Island "farms" often don't look like farms at all. They're just random fields with a few plants growing out of a hole in rock in which some soil and seeds were planted. Villagers come out to these "farms" to water by hand. It's painstaking work for them and anyone caught harvesting could be arrested. It's likely that any food you find growing wild belongs to someone. On the other hand, bay leaves and other bush are harvested by anyone. Get local advice.

try pickeling the capers on the vine in vinegar with a few chili's,ie with the stems still attached,cypriot speciality....awsome
