It’s actually a lot more complex than that. Remember, we are trying to bring a marginal 1.5 kW burner up to 2.5 kW or more, so increasing the gas flow by 67%. It is extremely unlikely that the air mixing Venturi will operate properly with that much more gas. This will lead to a yellow, sooty flame and an increase in CO production. The lower burner efficiency will also reduce the heat produced per gram of gas burned.
A 0.1 mm increase in diameter is very large. A typical orifice for a 2kW burner is about 0.8 mm. Increasing this by 0.1 is a 70% increase in area, and will result in about the same increase in gas flow. That’s a LOT!
This is a very dangerous suggestion to publish.
